studio calico planetarium sneaks

this week has gotten away from me, and the studio calico planetarium reveal is tomorrow. (okay, to be honest this MONTH has gotten away from me - how does that happen?!?) we are on the brink of a kid free night (all three are heading to a sleepover with friends), so i'm going to keep this short and sweet. you'll be able to check these out in full tomorrow at noon est!

hello atlantic

atlantic has landed at studio calico. or should i say come into port? either way, this lovely collection is up in the shop.

i'll admit that i was not all "team anchor" when this trend started popping up. and then i started making this page and the next thing i knew there were anchors everywhere, and i was in love. the itty bitty anchor punch is totally a new fave.

project life 2013 : week 6

 

i am slowly creeping towards caught up. i started a list in teuxdeux JUST to keep tabs on where i am and am finding it makes it less overwhelming to be able to see what's done and what needs to be done on my missing weeks. 

week 6 // february 2-8 : sick ben. sick mom. a lot of movies. a little legos. breakfast at jimmy's egg and baseball.

i was going for quick and done with this week. there's not much embellishing and a lot of label stickers. =)

i used a small heart stamp over the amy tangerine date stamp to mark off the week. and then stamped out the week's dates on the "currents" card because i thought i hadn't done it anywhere else. oops.

i love hat heart from sam. he made me two - one is pictured, and a different one is included.

oh, alex. he did this again yesterday. what is it with the coat aversion?

happy tuesday! the sun is shining and i'm craving chinese food. yes, at 10am. i blame bridgette's instagram from last night. how's that for a random sign off for today? ;)

pop off the page 2

one of the best perks of my job is that i get to see all of the studio calico class content before anyone else. and i have to admit that every month, as the projects roll in and i see the class take shape, that i fall a little more in love with paper + glue. there's nothing like seeing passionate, talented people sharing more about what they do.

 

jen was the first teacher i worked with when i took over coordinating the classes at studio calico. her pop off the page class was crazy well received, because jen rocked every bit of it. her class was packed with info, and her energy sparked her students to create some awesome stuff. and i am thrilled that she's putting together a part two to this class!

pop off the page 2 registration is open until 4.30, and class starts 5.1. this super cute bonus kit is still available (those half circle stamps are my favorite!), and there's a whole bunch of digi that comes with it as well (printing out those printables is on my list for today!) 

i'm not a big layer-er, but you don't have to be to get a lot out of this class. i love hearing the reasoning on how the different layers and elements in these projects work together, and so many of these ideas are awesome ones to turn to when you have a page that just needs a little something.

on seeing where you end up

i stood at my desk this weekend. stuck. listless. and frankly, a litle uninterested.

i blame the weather. which is miserable. but the fact of the matter was that something, ANYTHING, needed to happen at that desk this weekend to keep the rest of the week on track.

i started with circles. stamped circles, water colored circles. bright circles on writing paper. and then i walked away.

and then i came back and stuck them onto a background. then stitched them in place. i still had no clue where i was going. and i walked away again.

i came back one last time and stamped and journaled and embellished and layered and finally called it done. and now i think i'm unstuck. (the full page will be in my may studio calico gallery)

here's to just starting and seeing where you end up.

6y4m3d - almost 6 years later

6 years, 4 months, and 3 days separate these two. which a lot of the time is an eternity. one is in middle school, one is in preschool. one sometimes picks on the little dude just for something to do, one sometimes cries to get his way with his big brother. but most of the time, the little one looks up to the big one, and the big one humors the little dude. most of the time, they have a pretty cool relationship, and i love that they both bring a totally different perspective to it.

i caught this photo at sam's family night at preschool last night. ben had taekwondo, so alex, sam and i headed to school while matthew dropped ben off. alex did a fabulous job letting sam take the lead and show off everything, and being (mostly) patient and engaged while sam went about his business. i loved watching him let sam be the focus of the night.

i made this page in october of 2008. i remember how much i worried about the age gap during my pregnancy... and how fun it was to watch these two together once sam was born. i think it's time to do an update on this page =) i'm planning to record the NOW of their relationship, and very soon.

project life 2013 : week 14

ah yes,  the end of march. when we went outside without coats and it wasn't snowing like it is now. i want spring to come back!!

week 14 // march 30 - april 5 : easter. sunshine & swinging. baseball. a movie. 

hangers in pillows and soap tied to the faucet. good times on april 1st. =)

i may be a SMIDGE bit obsessed with the discovery that i can use my typewriter directly on photos. love the look.

that photo of sam looking down at me at the playground is a definite favorite. and i love any year we can easter egg hunt outside.

happy thursday! i've decided today is going to be a puttering at my desk sort of day...  i don't know of a better way to deal with this weather!

wordless wednesday : it's that time again

thinking of boston

i am heartbroken about what happened in boston yesterday, and my thoughts & love go out to all who were touched by it. 

i can't wrap my head around people who do terrible things. i CAN wrap my head around the people that help. the people that went back towards the explosions to do what they could. the first responders and rescue crews and fire fighters and  law enforcement. the people that will be a shoulder to cry on, and a source of strength to those around them. the people that will be cheerleaders for the injured as they work back towards health. the people who will do whatever little part they can to HELP.

there is darkness in this world, but there's an awful lot of light as well. and i want to honor those who were lost by finding the light, and doing my best to be a part of it.

hello, planetarium. may kit sneaks are up at studio calico, and i am loving all the stars sprinkled through these kits. and the navy. and the stamps. and... =) i've only just barely started working with these kits, but here's a peek at my main only projects for the SB kit and the PL kit.

happy monday!! we had a busy (and cold) weekend filled with birthday sleepovers and baseball games - i have to admit that i'm struggling to get with the program today. here's to forward motion. =)
