oh. hey. it seems i've lost the better part of the last ten days. so where have i been? one word - bronchitis. and while i can apparently expect to cough for the next six weeks, i can finally walk across the house without wheezing. whee?
my first order of business once i got back on my feet was to spend some time with the studio calico CUPPA kits. i think we all have our own definition of what makes an awesome kit - for me, it's texture. i love that the scrapbook kit had overlay accents, wood veneer, epoxy stickers, a glitter alphabet and badges. using a variety of textures on a page is a great way to grab the eye and add interest, so i love having so many in one kit!
i picked up the chai, chamomile and earl grey addons. i got gingerbread, too, but squirrelled most of it away for my december daily kit. they were filled with fun textures too - tin style alphabets and border, acetate light bulbs, enamel dots, cardstock and vellum diecuts (so in love with the pack in chai!), chipboard buttons and metal clips. ahhhh, happiness.
(just a note - kit links won't work until midnight EST tonight, unless you're a studio calico subscriber)
i made three pages and a PL spread with the kits. i will have another layout and PL spread with them in lifted, so i'm looking forward to using them more! i've linked each of these to my SC gallery - if you want to know what kits + extras i've used, you'll find them there.
teacups | it just seems fitting to scrap teacups with cuppa, right?? and the scattered stars patterned paper was the perfect background for a magical day at disney. =)
i started this page by building a mat of three different patterned papers - they were all eyeballed and cut by hand because i wanted a casual / haphazard feel. i stamped the tag and added my journaling, and then added the tag and my photos to the page. i am in love with the sticker sheet, and tucked lots of them here and there on this page. to finish things off, i added pop dots under some of the loose edges to bring more dimension to the layout.
our list | i had grand plans of recording our summer list in a mini book.... but then i decided it might be more practical to just make a layout. i used one of the templates to make a grid of a bunch of our summer pics, and left six spots blank to embellish. i decided to turn it into a two page spread, and just print a pic of our checked off list at the end of the summer to go on the first page.
everything | i absolutely loved the sentiment on this letterpressed card from the cuppa PL kit, and i wanted it to take center stage on my page.
this page and i had some arguments along the way - i had orginally intended it to be more layered, and to have a 4x6in photo. it just wasn't working. once i gave in and reprinted my photo smaller, it came right together. i basically started with the PL card and added one element at a time and then stitched a border around it until i was happy with the balance of the page. the stamped numbers were a last minute addition - i used temp adhesive to attach the stamps from chamomile + backer to my acrylic block, then stamped them as is across the top of the page.
PL week 30 - july 20-26 | i loved the watercolor cards in the kit so much that i had to carry the look to some of the other black and white cards. =) my favorite part of the kit was the wood tag.. i chose to float it in a pocket so it can be seen on more than one week.
it's funny.. sometimes i feel a little over PL.. but when i pull out a kit and my photos, i love it. i suppose i'm mostly just over printing those photos. ;)
happy sunday, everyone! i'm looking forward to starting a new week and getting back into the swing of things. i'll be sharing some more sneaks of my class, since registration closes on the 31st. i hope you'll join me!
