at first glance, lifted seems like an overly simple idea for a class. scraplifting is a great way to unstick your mojo, to play with new designs, and to try new techniques. it gives a crafter a framework to build their project around.
with this class, i want to go beyond the basics of lifting. we're going to be using layouts from the studio calico creative team to lift our own creativity to the next level. you'll learn to look at a page, take away a handful of ideas, and incorporate them into your own style. it's my hope that the ideas in these PDFs will be something you can refer to whenever you find yourself struggling with your mojo.
each sunday, i'll be posting an inspiration layout from the sc creative team gallery. the four layouts i've chosen are all stylistically different, and i'll be sharing thoughts on why it's a good candidate to be lifted. there will also be a sketch based on the inspiration layout.
monday through thursday, my contributors and i will be honing in on specific elements of the inspiration and incorporating them in our own layouts. we'll be sharing new projects using the design, color scheme, details (like the way an embellishment was used or a technique), and theme. you'll get insight into how we chose the element we lifted, and our thought process as we go from inspiration piece to finished layout. these PDFs will each contain a sketch of the new project, as well (if you're counting, we're up to five sketches a week!)
on friday and saturday, we'll be taking lifting the inspiration layout - and sharing a cards and project life spreads. once again, we'll share what elements we chose to lift, and how we incorporated the layout inspiration into a different type of project. and yes, more sketches. =) that makes seven a week - and 28 in all over the course of the class.
every single class project will be made with studio calico kits. i'll be sharing seven new layouts and two new project life spreads, and i am enjoying digging into my kit stash and using them up! my contributors will be sharing an additional nine layouts, four cards and four project life spreads. i'll also be sharing four new videos of my projects from start to finish.
to give you a little taste of what's to come, here's a peek at one of the inspiration pieces :
registration for lifted closes on 10.31 - i hope to see you in the classroom!! this is a busy time of year, so it's important to note that you'll have forever access to the class materials and videos. plus, the lessons and sketches will help you maximize your crafting time to get more done.
